Liquid biopsy
The sampling and analysis of non-solid biological tissue, typically blood, is known as a liquid biopsy, also known as fluid biopsy or fluid phase biopsy. This type of method, like traditional biopsy, is primarily utilized as a diagnostic and monitoring tool for disorders like cancer, with the added benefit of being relatively non-invasive. As a result, it can be done more regularly, allowing for better tracking of tumors and mutations over time. By obtaining numerous liquid biopsy samples over a few weeks, it can also be used to validate the efficacy of a cancer treatment medicine. Patients may find the device useful in monitoring relapse after treatment.
